Kinesio Taping Method

What is Kinesio Taping?

The Kinesio Taping Method is a taping technique that has been designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. Unlike traditional athletic tape, it supports without restricting range of motion and can be worn comfortably for days at a time. It can be effectively used on all ages as a valuable adjunct to physical therapy, helping to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinic.

How does it work?

The tape targets specific somatosensory receptors and creates a microscopic lift in the skin to achieve the desired therapeutic benefit. This lift helps to decongest the underlying tissues, thereby facilitating good circulation and lymph drainage, allowing for decreased inflammation. Varying the way the tape is cut, the amount of stretch placed upon it, and the direction of pull yields hundreds of different ways to tailor the taping directly to the patient's specific needs. It can be used to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, support injured tendons and ligaments, promote good circulation and healing, and enhance performance.

A detailed evaluation is necessary to determine the specific needs of each patient. Learn more about Kinesio Taping here.
